Our Story

The Empowered Jew was founded by Chavi Israel in the wake of October 7, 2023, as antisemitism and anti-Jewish sentiment surged globally. Like many in the Jewish community, Chavi felt a new level of discomfort around visibly expressing her identity. She soon realised she wasn’t alone, and that this widespread fear, confusion, and silence pointed to something deeper: a need for tools that could help prevent harm before it takes hold.
That realisation sparked a mission: to build a platform that would strengthen Jewish identity, support mental and emotional wellbeing, and reduce the vulnerability that comes from being uninformed or unprepared.
Since launching, The Empowered Jew has reached thousands through hands-on workshops in schools and communities, powerful speaker events, educational campaigns on social media, and a podcast featuring respected Jewish leaders and educators. We’ve created free, practical resources that help individuals navigate difficult conversations, respond to antisemitism, and engage with confidence.
Our mission is simple yet vital: to instill pride in Jewish identity and provide the knowledge, skills, and strategies needed to prevent harm. We aim to reduce the emotional and psychological impact of antisemitism, misinformation, and social exclusion by proactively equipping people, especially youth and community leaders, with the tools to respond, advocate, and stand strong in who they are.
In an increasingly hostile climate, The Empowered Jew is more than an education initiative, it’s a preventative force, building resilience and helping ensure Jewish individuals and communities are not only safe, but proud, informed, and empowered.
